| In 1898, Joseph Ruwet returned from a trip to Normandy where he was initiated to the manufacturing of the local drink: cider. |
| The similarity between the Normandy land and the orchards of the Herve area, incited him to found in the centre of the village of Thimister, the cider and vinegar factory Joseph Ruwet. |
| Right from the start the business was successful and provided a lot of local employment although seasonal. The small farmers found a new outlet for the enormous apple production which the orchard generated year after year. |
| Through the 20th century, the small factory manufactured this sparkling drink which one finds on the tables of the countryside and outside its borders. Three generations of the Ruwet family succeeded each other as head of the Company. |
| Today, the Ruwet factory widened its product range from regular or aromatized ciders, to sparkling and regular apple juices. It also welcomes visitors wanting to know more about the story of the Ruwet Ciders. |
